Verse 1: Like a sheep I had wandered astray, Lord, Far away on the mountain side. I was lost and in need of a Savior All alone and in fear, I cried. Then you searched the night ’til You found me Lying helpless, I needed You so; Then You carried me all the way homeward, Now I’m safe in Your fold once more.
Verse 2: Far away on the barren, dark mountains, Down the valley so low and deep, You kept searching, O, Lord, ’til You found me, Just a wayward and wand’ring sheep. Then You bound my wounds with Your love bands, As You poured in the oil of Your grace; And You carried me all the way homeward, In Your fold I have found my place.
Verse 3: Even now, as I ponder my life, Lord, and the days not so long ago, I reflect, and it fills me with wonder Just to think that You love me so! Just to think that You came to save me. Tho’ it caused You such heartache and pain; O, the love that I feel in Your presence, Now I’m safe in Your fold again.
Verse 4: In the fold of contentment I rest me, I am safe from the tempest wild. Happy now just to be in Your presence, Happy now just to be Your child. And the song I sing never changes: “I’m redeemed,” and my theme shall e’re be! Since my life to Your will I have yielded There’s a place in Your fold for me.
