Lyrics
Verse 1: If I had sat in Pilate’s seat, And had to judge on innocence, The lies of men, the truth of God, My “justice” killed the Son of God who died for me. And slashed at Him with sharpened words, Or if I’d been one in the crowd, Whose eyes were healed by God’s own touch, Did I cry loudly, “Crucify” To Him who loved and died for me. me.
Verse 2: If I had held His hands to wood, While pounding nails into His flesh, And felt the blood run from His wounds, How could I ever think that He would die for me? Or if I’d hung beside His cross, And slashed at Him with sharpened words. I added pain upon His heart, Yet thru His love, He died for me. Me
Verse 3: Their actions killed my Lord, my God. Their hearts were blind, they did not see. With wicked hands, they crucified, Yet in His love and mercy, grace, He died for them. And yet my sin, no less than theirs, Compels my heart to worship Him. My sin has given Him more pain, But knowing this, He died for me.
